About the Project
The DePaul School of Northeast Florida project involved the transformation of a one-story, existing event space into a specialized educational facility for students with dyslexia. The renovation was completed with the goal of creating an environment conducive to the unique learning needs of students while maximizing the use of the existing space. The project began with a selective demolition of the interior spaces of the existing structure to remove any elements that were not aligned with the new design intent. This phase required careful planning to ensure the integrity of the remaining structure while making space for Phase 2 which will consist of new construction and modern educational amenities. Following the demolition phase, we conducted an extensive build-out to convert the existing event space into a functional, state-of-the-art educational facility. This included the construction of new classrooms, specialized instructional areas, administrative offices, and common spaces designed to foster a supportive learning environment for students with dyslexia. Upgrading mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems was essential to meet the new usage requirements of the educational facility. New parking spaces were also developed to meet ADA requirements.

Unique Elements
The renovation required selective demolition and thoughtful reconfiguration to ensure the integrity of the original structure while preparing for future phases of expansion. From custom instructional areas to ADA-compliant infrastructure and upgraded MEP systems, every element was designed to support a focused, inclusive, and responsive learning environment tailored to the needs of its students.
