About the Project

Avant completed the renovations for the new Candy Apple Café, a restaurant venue located inside the Historic Seminole Building in Downtown Jacksonville. The restaurant encompassed half of the building’s first floor footprint, the outside patio for additional seating, and also serviced the rest of the building for special events. The Candy Apple Café had four distinct event spaces for private parties that were all serviced from the commercial kitchen on the first floor. Renovations included a service elevator for catering, making a seamless transfer of dishes from the first floor all the way to the third floor. The restaurant space on the first floor included a 95-seat dining room, serving French-inspired fare with Southern influences, as well as a full-service bar.

Unique Elements

Candy Apple Café was a complex renovation, transforming part of the first floor and patio into a dynamic restaurant venue. Unique construction elements included the installation of a service elevator to efficiently support multi-floor catering operations and the build-out of four private event spaces—all connected to a single commercial kitchen. The project required seamless integration with the building’s historical framework while accommodating high-volume, multi-use functionality.
